On Monday, after asking for unanimous consent on a 60-vote threshold for amendments to the House bill that funds the government except for Obamacare, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said that if Democrats think Obamacare is working for Americans then they should not be afraid to make their case and debate it.

Speaking on the Senate floor, Cruz, one of the leading advocates of defunding Obamacare, said if Democrats and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) think Obamacare is good for America, “then I would encourage this body, ‘Let’s debate.'”

Cruz said the Senate should debate “not in the artificial sense” where “one or two senators” are “talking to an empty hall,” but in the “real sense in making the case to each other and the American people about whether this law is working or whether it is not.”
