David H. Petraeus has hung up his CIA director hat for a new role: chairman of a group within a private equity firm that will look at world economics and chart a course of new investment.

In between, he will serve as a due diligence adviser to the company’s investment experts, CNN reported. His new company: Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., and Mr. Petreaus will lead up the firm’s new program, KKR Global Institute, CNN reported.

“I am very pleased to join such a great team,” Mr. Petraeus said in the CNN report. “I have watched KKR evolve as it adapted to the post-finanicial crisis world and became a go-to partner for companies worldwide.”
