President Obama said Wednesday night that he “fundamentally” rejects the idea that immigration reform seems “impossible,” particularly after Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s primary loss.
Speaking at a fundraiser in Weston, Mass., Obama ripped political pundits for expressing that notion and said he plans to keep pushing the issue.
“It is interesting to listen to the pundits and the analysts and some of the conventional wisdom talks about how the politics of immigration reform seem impossible now,” Obama said. “I fundamentally reject that. I will tell the Speaker of the House that he needs to reject that.”
