Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. chided his fellow Republican colleagues who have already signaled that they plan to vote against the budget deal reached by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash.

“My only response to that is that I respect their vote but I’d like to know what we do in order to avoid another shutdown of the government, McCain said Tuesday afternoon.

McCain added that the only alternative to the budget deal was a government shutdown, which he repeatedly criticized during his speech.
