In an insipid interview conducted by The New Yorker, available 1/27, The Lyin’ King blamed his plummeting approval numbers on Americas’ dislike of having a black president. Quite a change from the early days when FLOTUS claimed she was proud of America “for the first time” because his highness was elected. In the face of sinking approval numbers, currently at 39% according to the latest Gallup poll, who would have dreamed that the Dictator-In-Chief would stoop so low as to accuse
America of blossoming animus just because he is black? Well, whoever wouldn’t must have been in a coma for the past five years.
The New Yorker offers some of The Lyin’ King’s insightful conclusions: “‘There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black president…Now, the flip side of it is there are some black folks and maybe some white folks who really like me and give me the benefit of the doubt precisely because I’m a black president,’ Obama said in his most direct comments on how race has affected his political standing since he’s been in office.” “Maybe some white folks”? “His most direct comments”? This from the greatest thinker and orator since Cicero? Perhaps it has escaped The Great Unifier that two terms in office is one hell of a long time to give someone “the benefit of a doubt.” A physician trains in less time.
The New Yorker article continues with another of The Lyin’ King’s shrewd observations about his constituency: “They know what they’re buying into,” Obama said. “It is no longer a secret. It’s sort of the feeling I have about smokers, you know?” No; it hasn’t been a secret to many of us since before he began running for President. His abbreviated hitch in the Senate told it all. Unfortunately for us, the Kool-Aid drinkers who heaved The Lyin’ King into his second term are only now suffering buyer’s remorse. According to the Imperial president, they have only one reason for their new found animus. Americans must have awoken to the fact that he is, at least partially, a black man.
Unfortunately for The Lyin’ King, there are a few other, niggling reasons that Americans might not be so hot for his presidency anymore. Even David Remnick who wrote the article for the highly partisan New Yorker, couldn’t leave The Lyin’ King’s plummeting poll numbers to racism for its sole cause. In a tortured attempt to wrest reproach from the Imperial president, Remnick grudgingly admits: “Obama’s second term has been marked by controversies including a partial government shutdown in October, revelations that the National Security Agency has gathered personal mobile phone data and the troubled rollout of health-insurance expansion.” Big of him. He left out a few “controversies”: Ongoing complicity with Iran, the Benghazi debacle, a tattered military, suppression and persecution of one’s religious beliefs (unless that belief is Islam), nuclear expansion of entitlements, out of control prices, exploded national debt, nationwide joblessness, essentially revoking the separation of powers and committing impeachable crimes and misdemeanors, numbering in double digits, to name a few.
If America has lost its sweet tooth for The Lyin’ King, it isn’t because America is racist. It is because The Lyin’ King’s zealots are experiencing what it means to have a sophist potentate at America’s helm. They are finally learning a hard lesson that has nothing to do with race and everything to do with an agenda they didn’t bargain for.
