Despite relentlessly being hammered by wishful thinkers on the left about what a “gifted speaker” The Lyin’ King is, America has, to its detriment, learned better. We, as a nation, have become beaten down by his inexorable, self-involved, prevaricating blather over the course of his nearly two terms in office. His presence at the Mandela funeral, however, added some international luster to his blather. It seems that the perfect man to interpret The Lyin’ King’s remarks for the hearing impaired was on the job at the Mandela service.
The interpreter wore a South African issued security clearance pass around his neck and shared the high-profile stage with 91 dignitaries and heads of state such as The Lyin’ King, David Cameron and presidents of South Africa, past and present, Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma. NPR, ever eager to air a leftist-sanctioned injustice, made much of the harm done to the deaf community by the pretender’s insult: “There’s outrage among many in the deaf community over the appearance on stage Tuesday of a man who they say was only pretending to do sign language interpretation… Among those who noticed what was happening was Wilma Newhoudt, the first deaf person elected to South Africa’s parliament and a vice president of the World Federation of the Deaf.
‘Shame on this male so called interpreter on the stage,’ she wrote on Twitter during the memorial service. ‘What is he signing? …Shame on him!’ Others who protested included Bruno Peter Druchen, national director at the Deaf Federation of South Africa. ‘Please get RID of this CLOWN interpreter, please!’ he tweeted.”
The fury of the deaf community, worldwide, regardless, there were more serious issues at stake. Britain’s Telegraph raised the critical points: “(The) Man who provided sign language interpretation for Nelson Mandela’s memorial service…was simply making ‘childish hand gestures’ for hours as he stood on stage…” Far longer than that, according to FOX: “The country’s deaf community and the ruling African National Congress have no knowledge of who the man actually is… despite him appearing on television gesticulating alongside South African President Jacob Zuma last year…” The Telegraph resumes: “The embarrassing revelation also raises questions about the security…(the pseudo-interpreter) also interpreted for South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma, who apparently faces such a high threat level that he recently spent £12.4m on security upgrades to his private home. “ Clearly 12.4 million pounds ($19,386,581) doesn’t go as far as it used to.
The Telegraph made an additional, comical observation about South African “security”; Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu was in attendance at the high-status Mandela service. His home in Cape Town was being burgled at the same moment he was addressing the crowd. But that’s South Africa’s security. What about our government’s incompetent handling of this situation? If The Lyin’ King’s regime is incapable of even vetting an interpreter, standing right next to him for hours on end, how are we supposed to believe that our own, National Socialist government is supposed to protect us?
Perhaps it’s a sign that our own Great Pretender has been represented by precisely the right man for the job.
