President Obama in the heart of Tinseltown on Tuesday had a clear message for Hollywood executives: Don’t glorify violence.

“When it comes to gun violence, we’ve got to make sure that we’re not glorifying it,” Obama said during remarks at DreamWorks Animation in Los Angeles.

“The stories you tell matter,” he added.

The president’s push for gun-control legislation has stalled in Washington. And some have criticized the president for not doing enough to implore Hollywood to tone down Images of violence in mass entertainment.

Obama used the trip to the Hollywood studio, sandwiched in between a series of West Coast fundraisers, to tout the contributions of the entertainment industry to the U.S. economy.
