After being held in contempt of Congress for interfering with a congressional investigation into the abuse of her power as the head of the tax-exempt division at the IRS for targeting conservative groups, one would think things couldn’t get much worse for Lois Lerner.

A petition calling for her arrest floating around the Internet says otherwise.

So far the petition has received 30,000 shares on Facebook alone, which is a clear indication that the American people want those responsible for this illegal targeting brought to justice.

Whether your are a Republican or a Democrat, no one should be targeted by the government in an attempt to silence the expression of their political or religious beliefs.

We recently reported that donor lists the IRS claimed to have destroyed provide solid evidence that conservative groups were audited 10 percent more than liberal ones.

When we consider this with emails that indicate Lerner was told to “deal” with conservative groups involved in elections back in 2012, and it’s not hard to see why so many Americans want to see the woman behind bars.

The petition expresses frustration with Lerner about the targeting, but also talks of anger over the lies and tactics she has used to impede the investigation and prevent Congress from getting all the facts.
